I'm Brit Shew. I like to hear a good story, but I love telling a great one even more.

I've spent more than 10 years crafting concise, consistent, creative copy. I put pen to paper for six years with a full-service marketing agency. Before that, I spent four years in the rigorous, fast-paced print and digital newspaper world, honing an impeccable writing style.

When I was just a lil' sprout, I had difficulty conveying my web of constant ideas and thoughts – verbally. And buddy, I'm a chatterbox. To this day, I lean into written communication when my 'ole voicebox is a bit shaky.

When I cracked open my first notebook – I found clarity.

My writing style is heavily influenced by Salinger's intricate use of adverbs. I was hooked on descriptive writing with two simple words: Mossy Teeth.
The novel, though controversial for some, is a detailed work of art. I've read it nearly 15 times, and the dialogue and Holden's interpretation of everyday events leave me in awe each time.
Catcher in the Rye

I was a chaotic, complex child growing up. I had a mind that moved a mile a minute with a mouth that didn't struggle to keep up.

My grandmother fed my wandering mind with stories. She knew them by heart and would recite them from memory. Our favorite? Charlotte's Web.

Growing up in rural Upstate NY, a tale of animals who had feelings and dreams, felt REAL to me. E.B. White's use of language was inspiring. “Terrific,” “Radiant,” and “Humble" were words I didn't hear often. To this day, my ears perk when I hear unique words slipped into normal conversation.

I have a notebook of words that have evoked an interest or triggered an emotion in me.

My favorites: Tumultuous, Mossy & Asinine
